2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: So far, I've only completed one series. It's not yaoi, though it has its moments. The Tarot Cafe ^-^ It's a cool series, another by a Korean author. I have to admit, I think Korean art is beautiful. It's more beautiful than Japanese art in manga. I really think so.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: I know someone else who thinks that too, though I don't think that I have ever read Korean manga, so I wouldn't know how to compare them...^^ I have heard that the Tarot Cafe is very good though
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: It's probably one of the only series I've ever read that made me cry. It's got an awesome storyline.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: Really? I have never had that happen before...thoug
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: Most of what I read is too. I like it when manga can get an emotional reaction out of me. Godchild did that. But so far, only Godchild and The Tarot Cafe have been able to do that.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: Cresent mood is a good one, good story, good art, fabulous ending. It was really sweet, but so far I havn't found many more that were really note worthy.
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: Hmmmm... I don't know of any yaoi series that I really like. I mean, most of them don't end up as a series anyway. They're usually just single novels. It's kind of annoying. If Ai no Kusabi was actually a manga, I would recommend it, but it's just a novel series. It's been made into an anime, but it's old, and it's not in English.
2008-10-13 [~Crimson Angel~]: hey guys whats up?
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: Not a whole lot. We're discussing yaoi manga series.
2008-10-13 [~Crimson Angel~]: Ah Yaoi.
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: *nods*
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: That isn't bad, I watched Samurai X, which wasn't in english...and I still got the general idea. It would have been better, had I known what they were saying, but it was still fairly awesome.
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: Well, Ai no Kusabi is fansubbed, and it's been translated into German, if you care to watch it in that language instead. o.O But it's a good story. The anime makes it seem superficial, but it's a classic yaoi story. It was originally written by Reiko Yoshihara, and as a novel. Then it was made into an anime, and it's finally being released in English by volumes. I only have volume 1, but I think 2 and maybe 3 are out. It's...awesome
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: That is always the best kind of manga, the ones that arn't all gooey and fluffy...and LOL...unless it is in English or Italian, I am not going to be able to understand it. LOL. I will have to check out the anime then, if its in english.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]:
This one looks like a good one, mostly because the main character is hot...
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: *nods* It does have English subtitles.
Yes, it's kind of dark. Actually, it's pretty much never gooey or fluffy. The story line is set in the future (or something close to that kind of thing) and it's on another planet called Amoi. There is a rigid social class system based on hair color and partially on social status. The highest are the "Blondies" which of course have blonde hair. The lowest are the "Mongrels" who inhabit the slums. They mostly have varying shades of brown hair, and they are called mongrels partly because they have the ability to reproduce freely. There are people called "Furniture", and they are castrated servants. If you don't know what that means, ask. I know a lot of people who don't know what it means to be castrated. Anyway, Blondies take people as 'pets.' And if you watch it or read the book, you'll learn all about that. But that's the basic setting and whatever.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: Sounds strange...I know what it means. lol. I looked it up...it looks ok, but I read mangas based on artwork as well as story lines and it looks a little...rough
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: No, I understand. Like I said, it's kind of old. Nor am I buying the novels for the random illustrations. *laughs* I don't care for them either. I just like the story. The ending is beautiful, too.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: I am still trying to remember what the other yaoi manga I read that was REALLY good...ugh...i
2008-10-13 [~noctis lingua~]: *laughs* I have an awesome memory for stuff that I'm really interested it.
2008-10-13 [Alexi Ice]: ...I have a pathtic memory that doesnt last more than two seconds...even if it is something I am interested in..though I dont know why...
